Covario Taps Industry Sales Veteran for SVP Position, Promotes Current Sales Director to Regional VP

Ramp-up of Sales Team Demonstrates Growth for Leading Search Marketing Automation Company

SAN DIEGO, CA Covario, the leader in search marketing automation, announced today that industry sales leader, Brett Powell, is joining the company as senior vice president of sales, and Matt McGee, Covario’s senior director of sales, is being promoted to regional vice president of the western region. With extensive experience solving complex business issues through data-driven software solutions, Powell adds more than 20 years of leadership in online and offline sales, business development and alliances at leading edge business-to-business and consumer technology companies.

Powell comes to Covario from MarketTools Inc., a technology-based provider of market research and analytic solutions. As the General Manager of Sales, Powell helped grow the company’s revenues from $2 million to more than $70 million within a six-year period and expanded the sales team to more than 40 people worldwide. Powell, who began his career at IBM, has also held management positions with Vizu Corporation, Utility.com, Brainplay (acquired by KBtoys.com), Coral Systems (acquired by Lightbridge) and MapInfo Corporation. Powell has an M.B.A. from the University of Washington and a B.A. from University of California, Los Angeles.

Covario also announced that Matt McGee, the company’s senior director of sales, is going to serve as the new regional vice president in the western region. Within the past year, Mcgee helped drive the sales operations of Covario and aggressively hired and trained a successful sales team. Additionally, McGee has played an integral role in building alliances and raising capital for the company.
