QA Automation Engineer

Covario, Inc. is a search engine marketing (SEM) software company located in San Diego, CA. Covario provides software solutions and professional services which enable its customers to run their internet marketing programs more efficiently and effectively. We are seeking for a QA Automation Engineer who will be responsible for the development and maintenance of our test automation framework and toolset in addition to manual testing, test case and test script development, documentation of test results, and applying lessons learned to improve testing process.

Responsibilities:

  • Will serve a dual role balanced between hands on testing operations and implementing and providing direction for best of breed enterprise testing platforms and procedures.
  • Typical deliverables will include providing analysis of test hours, management of scheduled milestones, and assurance that quality is met within the software application per requirements.
  • The individual will participate in Requirements and Functional Specifications analysis and reviews, participate in test strategy and approach, develop appropriate test procedures to assure complete test coverage, and document all issues via a defect tracking system.
  • Developing test plans and specifications with documented test results
  • Lead project test efforts. Provide project tasks, overall testing strategy and preliminary test documentation to a team of junior testers and ensure tasks are completed as scheduled.
  • Identify automatable test cases, develop automation framework and supporting scripts, drive the implementation and adoption of automation tools and train others on the solutions.

Qualifications:

  • A four year technical degree or equivalent work experience.
  • At least 4 years of experience in at least 2 enterprise-scale testing organizations, working with client server applications, database driven applications and web applications.
  • Experience implementing test tools in an organization
  • 2-4 years experience developing test scripts in VB, Perl or Python
  • Ability to effectively and efficiently manage multiple tasks.
  • Understanding of technical systems, including web technologies (server and browser), relational databases and application servers.
  • Strong Communication skills.
  • Ability to generate test case documents from either requirements or a detailed test plan.
  • Strong SQL skills - mySQL preferred but experience w/ SQL Server or Oracle will suffice. This means the ability to perform complex joins or nested queries, updates and other means of interacting w/ the database.
  • 2-4 years experience with advanced automation tool usage - the ability to create automated scripts using data driven testing or making use of functions/variables/advanced functionality. Ability to record/playback only is not considered advanced.
