We are seeking an accomplished Director of Engineering to become part of our collaborative product development team producing enterprise scale marketing analytics solutions. The Director of Engineering will lead by example and work hands on with the senior team members to achieve our high growth milestones.

The Covario solution is a SaaS offering based on Java and Open Source technologies. Those having comprehensive knowledge of Spring framework based designs are especially encouraged to apply

Responsibilities:

Lead our teams through the full software development lifecycle (requirements derivation through delivery)
Mentor the next level of leadership in an Agile environment
Collaborate on a daily basis with counterparts in Quality Assurance and Production Operations
Designing, developing, launching and supporting large and highly complex Data Warehousing and analytics applications.
Actively contributing to the continuous improvement of the processes Covario uses in creating applications for its clients
Understanding, researching and keeping up to date with the latest technologies
Meeting and exceeding expectations regarding schedule, features, quality and personal interactions.

Minimum Qualifications:

A 4-year degree in Computer Science or other hard science field.
At least 10 years experience in enterprise scale software development
At least 5 years mgmt. experience with at least 2 years experience managing managers.
Resume demonstrating progressive increases in responsibility
Strong Communication skills and a desire to function in a team based environment.
Demonstrated ability to work with limited supervision.
5 to 7 years prior product development experience with the following: Java/JDK 1.4 & 1.5, J2EE, HTML, and Relational Databases.
Ability and desire to work “hands on” with Java/J2EE, Spring, Flex, Hibernate, MySQL, SQL Server and tomcat.
Solid foundation in OOP and Design Patterns as well as Dependency Injection (IOC) based designs
Solid Unix/Linux skills including scripting (perl, bash, ksh, python, etc.)
Capacity for positive and effective interactions with employees at all levels within the organization, as well as with customers, prospects and vendors.
The successful candidate will be a self-motivated individual with a strong work ethic and superior organizational skills.

Preferred Experience:

Knowledge of data center operations and understanding of how to scale large applications
Experience with applications applying the following: Hibernate, Spring, Servlet/JSP, Adobe Flex, MySQL, Tomcat, Apache, Linux
Demonstrated success in the application of Lean/Agile processes, ideally SCRUM.
Experience with Data Warehousing, Data Mining or Decision Support systems
Experience with open source test frameworks such as: watir, fit, fitnesse, selenium, etc.
