First Quarter Global Search Advertising Accelerates Out of the Gate

Spending on global paid search advertising in Q1 ‘14 grew by 7% quarter-over-quarter and by 25% year-over-year. Cost-per-Click (CPC) pricing continues to show early maturation of the market, especially as it relates to the mobile landscape, which will be addressed in a later section. Globally, we see CPCs on average up 12% compared to a year prior, driven primarily through mobile traffic increases in tandem with CPC increases.
